Steven Osborne
Steven Osborne, widely regarded as one of Britain’s most treasured musicians, has an astonishingly diverse repertoire. However, in this setting, he is focusing on a single composer he loves - Franz Schubert. Schubert composed his three final piano sonatas in September 1828, just two months before his death. These works weave together the entire panorama of human experience, from profound introspection and turbulent terror to joyous serenity. Steven has selected two of these three sonatas, and to prepare the ground for them, he starts with his own arrangements of two songs from Schwanengesang and the early Allegretto in C D346. It is promised to be a profoundly dramatic and emotionally involving evening to conclude our 2026 concerts. Not to be missed.
